Praveen Vayalamkuzhi Ph.D., FRSA

Dr. Praveen, an engineer-turned-entrepreneur, possesses extensive international experience in transportation safety research, with a focus on engineering, education and innovative measures. As the President and CEO of MobilityVision Inc., he leads a start up 501(c)3 science-driven organization enabling global shift towards a safe and sustainable mobility, which he founded in California, USA in 2022. Prior to this, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California Berkeley Safe Transportation Research and Education Center for almost five years, where he led the technical team developed highway safety evaluation methodologies/strategies and safety improvement decision-making tools for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), which are real, practical solutions to existing road safety problems. Dr. Vayalamkuzhi earned his PhD in Civil Engineering, specializing in transportation safety management, from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) in 2017.
He is actively involved with International Road Federation (Global) as the member of road safety committee and co-chair of task force on Artificial Intelligence for Improved Traffic Safety Outcomes, in addition to other professional organizations like National Academics of Engineering and Medicine’s Transportation Research Board – Safety Performance and Analysis, Performance Effects of Geometric Design and Transportation in Developing Countries committees, and American Society of Civil Engineers – Streets and Highway Operations as the Secretary and Transportation Safety committees. He is also a corresponding member of ASCE’s MARC. He serves as speaker, moderator and as reviewer for Transportation Research Board, International Scientific Journals, and International and National conferences and workshops. He is a committee member of the California Department of Transportation’s Lane Departure Challenge area as part of the State’s Strategic Highway Safety Plan 2024. Dr. Vayalamkuzhi’s research work and community engagement were recognized with several honors including Rising Star of Safety 2022 by the National Safety Council, USA and Forty Under 40 in 2022 by the Association Forum, USA, Engineer of the Year 2023 (Transportation and Sustainability) by ASEI, USA. His pioneering transportation safety research earned him the title of Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) in 2023, contributing to social advancement.
