Dr. Praveen is a transportation safety researcher for more than a decade. Currently, he is the President of the MobilityVision, Inc., a not-for-profit scientific organization focusing on resources and solutions for safe and sustainable mobility, which he recently founded in California. Prior to this, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California Berkeley Safe Transportation Research and Education Center for five years, where he led the technical team developed highway safety evaluation methodologies/strategies and safety improvement decision-making tools for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), which are real, practical solutions to existing road safety problems. His research focused on improving road safety through education and engineering measures – achieving goal of reducing road traffic fatalities and severe injuries. He is actively involved with International Road Federation (Global) as the member of road safety committee, in addition to other professional organizations like National Academics of Engineering and Medicine’s Transportation Research Board - Highway Safety and Geometric Design committees, and American Society of Civil Engineers – Streets and Highway Operations and Transportation Safety committees. He serves as speaker, moderator and as reviewer for Transportation Research Board, International Scientific Journals, and International and National conferences and workshops. He was a committee member of the California Department of Transportation’s Lane Departure Challenge area as part of the State’s Strategic Highway Safety Plan. Dr. Vayalamkuzhi’s research work and community engagement were recognized with several honors – most recent being honored as the National Safety Council’s Rising Star of Safety 2022.
